Bangalore’s newly opened Jain College, Jayanagar, is all set to celebrate its first college festival. The two-day-long festival will kick-start from August 17. The intra-college fiesta has been christened Udbhava and it will see various events, including rock show, folk dance, business and science quiz competitions and personality hunt, to name a few.
The college, which was inaugurated in June, has about 600 students. It provides pre-university and degree courses in Science, Arts and Commerce.
“Students from various departments of the college will be given opportunities to get involved, as there are several events lined up. Udbhava also provides a springboard for participants to hone their skills for future inter-collegiate festivals in Bangalore,” said BT Venkatesh, principal of the college.
The highlight of the first day of the festival will be events like ‘tangible timbre’ (classical duet), ‘silent beats’ (dumb charades), ‘buzzing blizzard’ (business quiz), ‘cherubic jingles’ (folk dance), ‘acoustic auroras’ (Jain idol), and ‘tuning tides’ (western dance), to name a few.
The second day will see rock concert by rock band ‘polaris’, ‘cryptic crackers’ (Science quiz), ‘beat of passion’ (contemporary), and ‘banging aviator’ (personality hunt).
“We are going to have loads of fun during these two days. However, I am not performing. I will give it a shot may be next year,” said Seema P, a first-year degree student.
Another student Ramesh Kumar said the festival would have a perfect blend of music and quiz programmes. catering to various tastes. “The carnival will be full of fun and frolic. We will have a blast of a time,” said Ramesh, a student of first PU.
