Army launches sea-to-sand expedition in Gujarat

The Indian Army has launched Golden Katar Sea to Sand Expedition comprising of officers and Jawans of Golden Katar Division accompanied with civil scientists from September 6 to 18, 2010 to study the eco-system of Kutch and desert regions and also to motivate the youth of Gujarat to join the Indian Army.

The expedition was flagged off by Brigadier BG Pathak, Commander Golden Katar Artillery Brigade on Monday at Sainik School, Balachadi.

The expedition team is being led by Captain Chetan N Balulad and is accompanied by Dr Bhupesh Patel and Dr Himang Joshi of Ayurvedic University of Jamnagar. During the expedition, the team will cover about 200 km in sea and 550 km on land and will visit Jodia, Navalakhi Port, Surbari, Tikal, Kuda, Dhrangadhra and Bakhasar before reaching its final destination at Munabao in Rajasthan.
