Rains or thundershowers are likely in Ahmedabad over the next couple of days, the meteorological department has forecast. However, the city will have to wait for some more time before the monsoon season sets in.

Cloudy weather prevailed in the city for most part of the day on Saturday, with light to medium rainfall at a few places. Parts of Ahmedabad district also received isolated rainfall. The Met department has forecast rain or thundershowers in some areas of the city on Saturday night. It has also said that no large change is likely in the outlook for the subsequent two days.

“The sky will be partly cloudy with possibility of rain or thunderstorms on June 18 and 19,” the department said in a statement.

The maximum temperature in the city was 36.6° Celsius, which was two degrees lower than normal, while minimum temperature was 28.8° Celsius, two degrees above normal. City was hit by smart showers late in the evening causing much inconvenience to commuters with blocked roads and water-logging at various places like Memnagar, Ghatlodia and several low-lying areas adjoining the SG Road.

The maximum temperature in the city is forecast to rise to 39° Celsius on Sunday, and 38° Celsius on Monday. The minimum temperature would be steady at 29° Celsius.

Parts of Saurashtra too received light to medium rains in the last 24 hours. Some places in Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Amreli received rains during the day.

As far as the whole state is concerned, the Met department has forecast light to moderate rains or thundershowers at isolated places in all districts, as well as in parts of the Union territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

Dwarka received just over half inch rainfall in the last 24 hours, while Vansda in Navsari received less than half inch rainfall.
