An analysis by Zee Research Group shows that 88.3% of medical staffs and 86.7% of paramedical staffs were unavailable even after getting sanctioned during 2011.

Incident when a 30-year-old woman gave birth to a baby in the open at a platform in Old Delhi Railway station without receiving any medical help has reinforced the perception that Indian railways is not going to learn from its mistakes.
The railway has quite often failed to provide timely medical intervention during emergencies to travellers. This is when it is one of the most extensive and preferred transport systems in the world.
An analysis by Zee Research Group shows that 88.3% of medical staffs and 86.7% of paramedical staffs were unavailable even after getting sanctioned during 2011.
Here's a chronology of medical emergency cases occurred since 2008 on railway platforms that remained unattended by railway authorities along with the discrepancies in the number of sanctioned and available number of medical and paramedical staff.
