Describing corruption as a 'cancer' spreading fast across the nation and hampering our growth and development, former President APJ Abdul Kalam today urged the common man to root out the 'economic menace.'

"Corruption is not just an economic menace, but also disrupts the moral fabric of the society," Kalam observed in his lecture on the theme 'Socially and Economically Developing Bihar' organized by the Bihar Chamber of Commerce here.

Kalam urged the common man to fight against greed so as to root out corruption and said that the fight against the vice should be now be waged with the thought "what can I give?" instead of the prevailing motto "what can I take?"

"We need to ask ourselves just one question - What can I give?" the former President reiterated and urged everybody collectively chip in in the 'root out corruption' drive.

Kalam urged the people to think both individually and collectively as to how they can provide a corruption-free system and stand up for honesty.

"All of us should give strength and support to the honest people and protect them from being victimised and work collectively for a corruption-free enviornment," the 'missle man of India', thus named for his work on space rocket technology, said.

The Bharat Ratna recipient urged the people to share views on corruption with him and write to him on the website -www.whatcanigive.in/givegoodgovernance.
