Just seven months into the incident and it has happened again! A three-storey building in Saudagar ni pol, Kalupur partially collapsed on Thursday damaging the adjacent building also. Kalupur police cordoned off the area in morning after learning about the incident.

According to DS Patel, police inspector of Kalupur, a local resident informed the control room about the building collapse. The building is located on the same street in Saudagar ni pol where in January an under-construction building had collapsed causing the death of five persons.

After learning about the collapse Kalupur police immediately evacuated the adjacent building. "We have cordoned off the area and barred people from entering into the premises," said Patel. Police fear that the remaining structure that was leaning towards the road may collapse on the main street. "It can collapse anytime soon, so we had to force people to stay away from using that road," added Patel saying that the cops have already informed the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation about the leaning building.

According to Bhima Patel, deputy estate officer, central zone, the building owners had been given notice one month ago. They were asked to either renovate the building or demolish it. "Four sisters own the building. We have asked them to raze the structure after learning about the collapse today," said Patel.
