Call it the effect of Anna Hazare joining the fast or the leisure of a weekend that Delhi once again witnessed a crowd of 25,000 people at the Jantar Mantar road to support the anti-graft crusaders.

Slogans like ‘Inqalab Zindabaad’  and ‘Vande Matram’ reminded one of the scene at Ramlila Maidan that rocked the monsoon session of parliament last year.

Team Anna tried to build up the momentum by urging people to give next one week to the cause of the movement and take leave from their work.

“The government thinks that people are not coming to Jantar Mantar. But it is because we get time only on weekends. I have taken leave from the office now, and next week I will be at Jantar Mantar to support the cause”, said Akshay, who came from greater Noida and works at IBM.

In the evening, a rally of about 15,000 people marched from India Gate to Jantar Mantar bringing the traffic to a standstill.
Government, on the other hand, has decided to call for a meeting of its select committee on the bill. Union minister of law, Salman Khursheed told DNA, “The SIT demand is impractical. Regarding the Lokapal Bill, I would like to tell them that it is in the hands of parliament now”.
