AMC to build giant waterfall at its head office in Danilimda

You might have noticed fountains of different shapes and sizes across Ahmedabad. Now, get ready to see a full-blown waterfall right in the heart of the city.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to build a giant waterfall inside the compound of its head office at Danilimda. The waterfall will be part of the beautification project to be undertaken at the AMC's office. The decision to erect a waterfall was taken during the road and building committee meet on Saturday.

According to the committee chairman Ramesh Desai, the whole project will include a garden with unique landscaping, a giant entrance and other decorative work on the walls and floor, besides the waterfall, and will come up at a cost of Rs58 lakhs.

The whole project will be done on the land cleared after the demolition of old bank building opposite to the newly-built Sardar Patel Bhavan building.
"The area of the plot is about 900 square metres and we want to utilise the space by converting it in to a beautiful garden" said Desai. According to Desai, the estimated cost for making the waterfall will be around Rs10 lakh.

While the entrance gate will cost Rs6 lakh and the cost of landscaped garden is estimated at Rs19.30 lakh. Also, the new gate will be made the main entry gate after its construction.
Apart from this proposal, the committee also instructed the concerned officials to complete patchwork of city roads before June 15. Desai also assured that all potholes and damaged roads will be repaired before monsoon starts.
