A miniature model of Ahmedabad will soon be on show in a room on the first floor of the newly
renovated heritage building of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) known as Sardar
Patel Bhavan. You will be able to see a BRTS track, Sabarmati Riverfront project, Kankaria
Lake and other major landmarks - in miniature form.
The idea behind the AMC's move to set up a miniature model of the city is to teach tourists about the city's development and geography.
"The idea has been borrowed from Singapore after an AMC delegation visited that city recently. It is a tourist friendly initiative," said a senior AMC official.
The AMC is in talks with an artist from Surat who will be entrusted the job of creating the miniature model of Ahmedabad.
The AMC building was inaugurated by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
Rs12. 5 cr was spent to construct the Sardar Patel Bhavan and the modern furniture cost Rs5.35 cr, while the electrical work is worth Rs3.10 cr.
While the ground floor of the heritage building will house the 'miniature' Ahmedabad, the second and the third buildings will house museums.
