AMC demolishes illegal structures at Shivranjani

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) demolished illegal constructions in West and New West Zone to free spaces for parking. The drive was carried out as per the instructions of AMC municipal commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra.

West zone estate officials said the shop owners used parking place illegally to beautify the place. They had constructed a shed as extension or had a small gate covering the entire parking area and denied parking space for customers; thus creating space crunch.

The official further said a notice was served to them before Diwali but since they failed to remove it, the structures were demolished.
Officials on Monday removed illegal constructions from a total of 17 shopping complexes, eight of which were in West zone and nine in New west zone. Demolition drive was carried out at Vastrapur's Asopalav Building, Galaxy Mall, Shiromani Tower, Shitalvarsha Mall, Iscon Arcade, Kalupur Commercial Bank, gold coin complex etc.
