The sleepy coastal town of Chorwad will wake up to hyper activity on December 28, when the entire Ambani khandaan is expected to arrive there for the inauguration of a memorial dedicated to Dhirubhai Ambani, India’s symbol of entrepreneurial spirit.
The memorial, to be developed in the same place where Dhirubhai lived till 1949 before leaving for Aden, will be inaugurated by Rameshbhai

Oza, a spiritual leader close to the Ambani family at Chorwad. On the special occasion, family members from both sides — Mukesh, Anil and their sisters — are expected to arrive in Chorwad for two days. Starting from Monday, members of India’s Uber family will start arriving in this small coastal town. Dhirubhai’s wife Kokilaben will reach Chorwad on Monday morning in a chartered helicopter. “We have prepared a helipad here. Mukesh and Anil Ambani will also arrive on Tuesday,” a top Reliance Industries official told DNA on Sunday.
The memorial named as ‘Dhirubhai no delo’ was owned by Bharat Sheth, former vice-president of the Bombay Stock Exchange. Dhirubhai had visited his birth place with his entire family in 1996. Sheth was in Chorwad at the same time. When rumours were rife that Ambanis wanted to buy their ancestral home, Sheth is said to have stated, “I don’t intend to sell this place as it used to be the house where Dhirubhai spent his childhood.” However, the Ambanis later bought this place for Rs50 lakh, sources said.

On his last visit to Chorwad, Dhirubhai had invited all residents of Chorwad for dinner and met some of his childhood friends. Despite not being able to walk properly owing to poor health, Ambani senior managed to negotiate his way through the entire building at that time.

"A room in the memorial will show a documentary film on Dhirubhai Ambani to visitors," a source close to the development said, adding that there are other places where his photographs as well as the journey of Reliance from a firm at Bombay Cotton Exchange to an industrial conglomerate have been showcased.
Despite it being a totally family event, observers believe that the occasion may bring the Ambani siblings closer to each other.

Speculations are rife that they may also make some announcements in this regards. "This is purely a family event. All family members will participate in religious rituals on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning," a top official from the Mukesh Ambani held Reliance Industries said on condition of anonymity.
