Jammu: The Amarnath yatra was today suspended from here due to snowfall in some places along the Pahalgam route to the cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas.

The Amarnath Shrine Board advised local authorities that the pilgrimage should not be allowed from Jammu in view of the bad weather.

To avoid a rush at the base camp at Nunwan in Pahalgam, authorities did not allow a fresh batch to proceed for the shrine. The yatra has been suspended many times in this season due to inclement weather in the Kashmir valley.
