The Allahabad high court today granted bail to Utsav Sharma, who had attacked and seriously injured Aarushi Talwar's father Rajesh Talwar outside a Ghaziabad court earlier this year.
The court, however, said that Sharma would need to obtain prior permission from the chief judicial magistrate whenever he wishes to go out of station.
The order was passed by Justice Shashi Kant Gupta here this morning.
According to Sharma's advocate BP Srivastava, the court order followed an assurance from his mother Indira, a professor of Psychiatry at the Benaras Hindu University, that her son would remain under her "personal supervision" while he was out on bail.
Sharma,30, who had attacked Talwar with a sharp-edged weapon on January 25, inflicting grievous injuries upon the Noida-based dental surgeon, had later described himself as being "emotionally weak".
He moved the high court after his bail application was turned down by a lower court on February 11.
Significantly, the assault on Talwar came nearly a year after he had attacked former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore outside a Panchkula court in a similar fashion.
While Talwar and his wife Nupur have been named as accused by a court in the murder of their teenaged daughter Aarushi, Rathore is facing trial in connection with the alleged molestation of 14-year-old tennis player Ruchika Girhotra, who later committed suicide.
