Alka Desai’s anticipatory bail petition rejected by court

A local court has rejected a transit anticipatory bail moved by Alka Desai, wife of Dr Ketan Desai, who was arrested in case of taking bribe for favouring a medical college in Patiala.

A local court has rejected a transit anticipatory bail moved by Alka Desai, wife of Dr Ketan Desai, former chairman of the Medical Council of India (MCI), who was arrested in case of taking bribe for favouring a medical college in Patiala.

She asked for transit anticipatory bail as she has to file anticipatory bail before the court in Delhi. In her application filed through advocate RJ Goswami, she has stated that she should not arrested by the CBI for a month until she files regular anticipatory bail application before the Delhi court.

Desai has also stated that as a gynaecologist she has to take care of number of patients who are under her treatment. She has also responsibility of two children. Desai has made the plea following the linking of her name in the case registered in the Delhi. Earlier Desai filed a bail plea before the Gujarat high court but was instructed to approach the special CBI court.

Dr Ketan Desai was arrested on April 22 by CBI along with three others for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs2 crore for giving permission to a medical college in Patiala.
