Alight at Vallabh Sadan for boat ride in Sabarmati

Amrapalli, the contractor for the service, discloses the spot from where you can take a boat; it will charge Rs10 per person; initially only motorboats will be used.

So you are all excited to go boating in the Sabarmati but don't know where the boat will sail from? Well you need not worry, for, the contractor for the boating service, Amrapalli, has identified the location from where the first boating service will start.

It is the Vallabh Sadan between Gandhi Bridge and Nehru Bridge on the west bank of the river. Amrapalli — is all set to start the boating service in the Sabarmati river by first week of September.

A senior Amrapalli official said that they had taken a round of the entire river stretch under the Sabarmati Riverfront project to identify the location to start the boating service.

"We will start boating from near Vallabh Sadan between Gandhi Bridge and Nehru Bridge by first week of September," he said.
Initially, the contractor will run the service with two motor boats.

"The ticket for the motor boats will cost Rs10 per person. We want to start boating in Sabarmati as soon as possible and so will begin with motor boats. Gradually, we will start pedal boats and introduce Gondola type boats in the Sabarmati," he said.

One motor boat can ferry up to 30 people at a time.

The contractor said that as the work on Sabarmati riverfront gets completed, the number of boating points will be increased.

"Meanwhile we will also inspect the depth of the river at locations and take into account safety features to start boating from other points," said the contractor.

The contractor also plans to get more boats from Mumbai when they increase the number of boating points. Currently, the steel platform for boating is being developed at Kankaria.
