To gather more support in their fight against corruption and ensure more youth become part of it, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), has announced a 'college bandh' on August 18.

"ABVP and Youth against Corruption (YAC) have called for a nationwide 'college bandh' to gather support from youth. All the arts, commerce and science colleges across India will pull down their shutters. As for Ahmedabad, most colleges have voluntarily decided to remain closed to support Anna," YAC member, Krunal Patel said.

"YAC members will be visiting colleges on Wednesday ensuring they are shut to support Anna. As colleges have not been sent any official closure notice, we will visit colleges to ask them to close to gather youth support for Anna. This is the time and these are the people for this fight," Patel added.

However, Dr Parimal Trivedi, vice-chancellor of Gujarat University, denied shutting down of nearly 350 colleges on Wednesday. He said, "Colleges will function normally, there is no bandh to support Anna. The messages doing the rounds with regard to 'college bandh' are probably a few students playing mischief. There is no truth in it as we have not sent any official communication to any college."
