ShareNew Delhi: The All-India Cabin Crew Association (AICCA) of Air India employees on Friday sought a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into what it termed as the 'Tulsidas era' while offering suggestions on improving the airline's financial status.
The proposals could save the airline about Rs100 crore, the AICCA claimed in a statement. The union had 18 months ago called for a CBI inquiry into the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines.
"The AICCA stands by its demand for a JPC probe into the Tulsidas era and feels that systemic deficiencies such as leakages, mismanagement, middlemen and wrong decisions of previous management must be investigated," said AICCA general secretary Sanjay Lazar. "Especially, decisions such as merger, aircraft leasing and contracting, and Mumbai International Airport land deals [should be probed."
The union has also submitted a strategic plan to the Air India Turnaround Committee for curtailing expenses across the company. This includes reduction in expenditure on "higher management", reduction in the number of directors, recall of overseas executives and stoppage of contract executives.
It also suggests initiation of new revenue streams such as monetising real estate holdings, enhancing advertising opportunities and monetising in-house sales and marketing opportunities.
