Tamil Nadu must be the only State in India that distributes 'priceless' rice, mixies, grinders , electric fans and footwear to its people.

The list of freebees being distributed by the AIADMK government, led by J Jayalalithaa, which was released to the media features various 'priceless' items like, rice, electric gadgets and domestic animals.

Till now  we had heard only about 'priceless' diamonds, precious stones and art works by the great artists. The Amma administration which completes one-year in office on May 16 this year, has listed this series of 'priceless' items. The release says that these are all being distributed as promised in the election manifesto released by AIADMK prior to the 2011 assembly election.

The Jayalalithaa government also distributed 'priceless' milch cows and sheep for the upliftment of the poor. The government has also distributed 'priceless'  1,51, 430 laptops to school and college students.

Some of the claims in the 'self- assessment report' released  by  the public relations department of the government read like this:

- Priceless rice: 20kg to ration card holders and 35kg to Anthyodhaya Anna Yojana card holders every month.  Beneficiaries: 1,85,84,153 Families.

- Priceless Mixi, Grinder and Electric fan distributed to 14.38 lakh Families

- Priceless Laptops to +1 and +2 and college students.
Beneficiaries: 1,51,430

- 12,000 Priceless milch Cows, 4 Lakh goats and sheeps for economic uplift of the poor have been distributed

- School bag, geometric box, colour pencils and maps to 92,28,374 students at a cost of Rs136.50 Crores

- First day of Chithirai is restored as Tamil New Year

The release has listed more than 90 achievements made by the AIADMK government over the last year but remains silent about the conversions of the new secretariat into a super specialty hospital and the Anna Centenary Library into an exclusive hospital for children. It is expected that the DMK patriarch Muthuvel karunanidhi, who does not have much engagements nowadays other than penning articles for his party organ Murasoli will be busy for the next couple of days ridiculing and taunting his bete noire’s achievement list.
