The Ahmedabad city police are on their toes again, this time for the Ayodhya verdict. The city police commissioner had been ordered to deploy additional police force across the city and mainly in the sensitive areas.

The city police commissioner has put in position 20 SRP (around 2,000 policemen) and four companies of the border wing besides 90 police under training at Karai police academy.

The police officers will be deployed from 12 pm on Thursday and if needed, a flag march will also be conducted. Apart from that, around 500 more police officials from the headquarters will be deployed in different parts of the city.

"The local police will keep a watch on suspects as well. They will also be involved in continuous patrolling," a police source said. Apart from that 18 police control room vans and three teams of Quick Response Teams will be moving across the city on Thursday.

"We have also told police officials of the detection of crime branch (DCB) to move across the city in civil dress and keep a tab on miscreants," the police source said. The city police commissioner had appealed to the citizens to co-operate with the police in connection with any untoward incident that they may notice and also to not to believe in rumours.
