After serving life imprisonment for killing a Baroda-based builder, a 48-year-old man allegedly killed his young nephew with wooden sticks on Wednesday night in Bapunagar area. The victim was admitted to Shardaben hospital where he was declared brought dead. The incident is said to have been a fall out of a property dispute.

The deceased, identified as Dipak Srimali alias Batak, a resident of Ganganagar ki chali, Bhidbanjan Hanuman Mandir in Bapunagar. According to police his uncle Harish Srimali was eyeing the property which is under joint ownership of the Srimali family. However, cops said that Harish wanted to capture the whole property in his name.

"There were feuds going on between Dipak and Harish's family over the property for a long time. On Wednesday Dipak had slapped Harish during a heated argument. In the night Harish attacked Dipak with a stick and thrashed him severely," cops said.

Dipak was rushed to Shardaben Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. But Harish reportedly took the body in his custody and ran away in an auto. The hospital authorities are said to have informed the cops about the incident, based on which Harish was arrested.

Police said that Harish had recently been freed after serving life imprisonment for killing a Baroda-based builder and was also booked in as many as 20 criminal offences across the city. Police said that the dispute was for a house located at Ajad Chowk, Gujarat Housing Board, Bapunagar which has a joint ownership of Harish and Dipak but Harish reportedly wanted to grab it.
