In a major embarrassment to officials of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, an international airline has reportedly complained of pests at the swanky international  terminal (T-2).

The airline officials wrote a letter to the airport director Anuj Aggarwal recently stating that the terminal needs pesticide treatment due to the presence of pests. The complaint comes as a blow to the airport authorities since the new terminal was inaugurated just 10 months ago at the cost of over Rs300 crore.

Further, the letter states that the chairs meant for passengers are broken and many of them are missing. The airline also complained about the lack of luggage trolleys at the terminal. The letter was addressed to the authorities around a week back.
Airport director Aggarwal was not available for comments.

However, sources said that authorities have installed some chairs at the terminal. They added that the insect problem is also being dealt with.  The terminal was inaugurated on September 15, 2010 by the then union civil aviation minister  Praful Patel. The terminal is built on the lines of Singapore's Changi airport. However, large part of this mega terminal is  yet to be used. Sources say that 80% of the terminal is yet to become operational.
