Ahmedabad Employer rapes female staffer for months together!

A city-based employer Atul Bhatt raped his female colleague Rupal (name changed) several times for months. This heinous issue came to light when the woman tried to commit suicide after slipping into depression. She was rushed to Medilink Hospital where she was saved and later disclosed the tale to her family. Rupal disclosed that she was raped on several occasions and was also blackmailed by her employer saying that he had shot the entire video of the act. Rupal 34, who works as peon, is married for the last 15 years and has two sons, aged 8 and 13 and a daughter, 10.

Rupal a resident of Chadlodia, started working at Bhatt’s office at CG Road, completely unaware of the ordeal that she would have to undergo in the coming months. Later Bhatt asked her to discontinue her services at his CG Road office and asked her to work at his residence from June 19, 2011. Bhatt, 50, is married and has a daughter who is a doctor and his son too is a medical student.

As per instructions, she reached his residence at Parishram Society in Satellite area and around 2.30 pm, and complained of symptoms akin to low blood pressure. She drank water that was offered to her by Bhatt which had a substance that made her unconscious. On coming back to her senses she sensed something to be wrong when she saw her clothes lying in shambles and wet. When she questioned Bhatt, he apologised to her stating that he committed a big mistake by taking advantage of her unconscious state and asked her to never mention about the incident to anyone.

Bhatt started visiting Rupal’s residence daily under some or the other pretext. When she asked him not to come and meet her ever again, Bhatt showed his real self and told her that he had shot a video of their act. Thereafter, he started blackmailing Rupal. On July 5, 2011 Bhatt took her to a hotel located in Mehsana near Shanku’s Water Park and raped her again.

Confident that his victim was trapped Bhatt approached her husband and asked him to allow Rupal to accompany him to Mumbai, claiming to meet a potential groom for his daughter. The husband, who was unaware of his intentions, agreed and sent Rupal for two days to Mumbai with Bhatt. Here too Rupal was raped again and again, while his threats continued.

Unable to bear the situation anymore, Rupal slipped in to depression and tried to commit suicide last Monday. However, she was saved and the gory incident came to light. Rupal lodged a complaint against Bhatt with the Satellite police on Thursday.
Satellite police inspector, JM Bharwad said that they will lodge charges of rape, blackmail and death threats against Atul Bhatt and will investigate the matter.
