Crime branch sleuths on Tuesday raided a shop in the Ajit mill compound and seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs70,000. During routine patrolling, crime branch police inspector RR Sarvaiya received a tip off regarding bootleggers selling liquor under the guise of a steel polishing shop located inside Ajit Royalty Estate in Rakhial.

After receiving information, crime branch team raided shop no A/61 and caught two people, Mumtaz Ahmed Pathan, a resident of Rakhial and Mukesh Nayak, a resident of Naroda road. When they searched the shop, officials found 215 bottles of IMFL and 49 beer cans hidden inside a steel safe. To hide their illicit liquor trade, the accused had kept some steel furniture in the shop for polishing.

Crime branch also learnt from the accused that the liquor was supplied to them by Santosh Singh Chauhan and Mahesh Bhavsar, who they have declared as wanted and have started their search operations. Apart from liquor, officials also seized two I-cards from Pathan, along with Rs25,000 in cash and two Nokia cellphones.
