The Ahmedabad Collectorate has issued flood warning to 21 villages of Dholka and Daskroi talukas in the wake of water released from Dharoi Dam on the Sabarmati. The collectorate has put the administration on high alert and the talati has been asked not to leave headquarters. The situation, however, is under control.

The collectorate issued warnings to 14 villages of Dholka taluka including Saroda, Chandisar, Dhavalpur, Ambaliyara, Vautha, Sahaj among others. Similarly, seven villages of Daskroi taluka situated on the bank of the Sabarmati such as Mahijada, Kasindra (Mota Chhapra), Navapura, Miroli and Paldi (Kankaj) have also been warned, said KK Dudhat, in-charge additional collector of Ahmedabad.

At 8pm on Monday, Dharoi Dam's level was 619.61 feet, while its inflow and outflow was 15,596 cusec and 55,040 cusec respectively. Similarly, water level at Vasna Barrage was at 128.5 feet while its outflow in the Sabarmati was 48,293 cusec.

Twenty-seven gates of Vasna Barrage were kept open.

However, the water level in Sabarmati is not likely to have any impact on the Sabarmati Riverfront. "The water level in the river is more than a metre below the walkway. The inflow in the river has come down and so there won't be any negative impact on the project," said MS Patel, deputy municipal commissioner of AMC.
