Advocates thrashed five gamblers in the court premises and later handed them over to the police. The incident took place yesterday in Nyaymndir area. Talking to PTI, Narendra Tiwari, President of Baroda Bar Association, said "I telephoned the police and informed that several people were gambling on the back side of the court premises."

"As police took longer to reach the spot, the advocates caught hold of the gamblers and beat them up. They were handed over to the police when it reached the venue," Tiwari said. The gamblers were taken to Raopura police station, where an offence was registered against them, he said.

Justifying the action by the lawyers, Tiwari asked "how can we allow anti-social elements to use court premises for such a purpose?"
