Do you want to indulge in some adventure sports right here in the city? Well then, head for the Kankaria Carnival which begins on December 25. For, that is where you will find entertainment and adventure all at one place.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) Kankaria Carnival this year revolves around activities for kids. The carnival promises to be a great time for kids and adults alike but the emphasis is on making it a week-long memorable celebration from the children.
This year, the Kankaria Carnival will have parasailing, skating, yoga with rope, gymnastics and tri-cycle rally among others as part of the festival. There will also be a ‘Run for Kankaria’ event.
That is not all. For entertainment, there will be a performance by kids as part of a musical evening. Instrumental music, one act plays and a children's music band and patriotic song events will also be part of the carnival. "This year the idea is to give attention to the kids. So, we have planned the whole function keeping children in mind.
However, we have incorporated some entertainment for the adults too," said a senior AMC official.
Last year, the AMC had organised a dog show and horse show to attract visitors. The shows will be repeated this time around given their popularity.
Some of the daily events at Kankaria Carnival include karate and judo performance by children.The Bharat Jodo theme will be another repeat at the carnival this year.
"Members from all non-Gujarati communities will make a human chain around Kankaria Lake. Moreover performance by children belonging to various parts of the country but residing in the city will give the citizens a taste of different cultures," said an official.This is the second year since the inauguration of Kankaria Lake and Atal Express.
The AMC has also passed a resolution not to charge ticket for entry at the Kankaria Lake during the Kankaria Carnival from December 25 to December 31.
