You must have noticed the advertisements in daily newspapers that prominently feature prompt and punctual professional tax payers of the city, along with their photographs. This in fact is the idea of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and is being done to motivate those who pay their professional tax on time - and remind those who have not yet paid their dues.
The advertisements contain random photographs of those professionals who have paid their tax on time.
Brainchild of the revenue committee of the AMC, along with the approval of deputy municipal commissioner Arjav Shah, the main aim of the campaign is to create a feeling among the citizens that even they can be a part of the advertisement plan if they pay their taxes promptly.
The chairman of the revenue committee Sunil Shah said, “We wanted to create a chain wherein one photograph inspires many and so on. This will help us in collection and increase the revenue of the corporation.”
Chartered accountant Jainik Vakil, a tax payer whose photograph appeared in the advertisement, said, “I received amazing response from the CA community. I got at least 100 calls from colleagues and many of them have responded to the scheme and have paid all their dues. “
