A delegation of Maharashtra BJP today met justice JA Patil, who is heading the two-member commission probing the Adarsh Housing Society scam, to complain about the 'slow' pace of CBI investigations into the case.

Addressing a press conference, BJP national secretary Kirit Somaiya said the investigators of the case have come to CBI on deputation from the Maharashtra government and are apparently working under pressure.

"CBI has just named former chief minister Ashok Chavan in the FIR, but is not willing to investigate the role of former CMs and present union ministers Sushilkumar Shinde and Vilasrao Deshmukh," Somaiya said.

The BJP leader said the commission has so far issued summons only to Shinde. "There are 117 witnesses in the case and currently the cross examination of the first witness is going on for the last three days. We feel nothing will come out of the investigations before 2014 and guilty will never be brought to book," Somaiya said.

Somaiya said whatever little action has been taken in the Adarsh case is only due to Bombay high court to which justice Patil said he would look into the issues raised by the delegation.

Meanwhile, the BJP also demanded a CBI probe into the alleged allotment of 55,000 sq.ft defence land in Kandivali, suburban Mumbai to a private builder.

"A 26-storeyed tower stands on that plot now for which the then revenue minister Narayan Rane lifted all reservations on the plot to accomodate the builder," he said.

Somaiya contended that the land was in possession of the defence ministry since 1953. He alleged that the land records shown by the defence estate officer were not accepted by the suburban Collector.

He also informed that his party was seeking legal opinion on approaching the Lokayukta on the issue.
