Acid attack on woman, toddler in AP

Guntur: A farmer attacked his wife and their two-year-old daughter by throwing acid on them in the wee hours today, police said.

The accused B Pulliah (26), in a fit of anger attacked his wife Sivaparvathi and daughter Meenakshi, as she refused to return to his house, police said.

The victim on some domestic issue left her husband and was staying with her parents in Yellamanda village for the last two months. She also took her baby with her, police said.

Pulliah sent feelers for rapprochement, but she didn't bother to respond, police said.

He visited his in-laws house and pleaded her to return back, but she refused, after which he threw acid on his wife and on the child, police said.

Both mother and child were admitted to the nearby government general hospital here. Their condition is reported to be critical, according to doctors.

In another incident a man set afire his wife and child in Kalapadu village, police said.

The injured were rushed to the government general hospital here, and they are in a critical condition, according to doctors.
