8-year-old drowns in Rajasthan

The body of the boy was fished out this morning and would be handed over to the family for the last rites after postmortem.

An 8-year-old boy drowned while crossing a river swollen after heavy rains lashed the district for the second consecutive day, police said here.

Sukhdev, his wife and son Ganish, who were returning to their village in adjoining Swaimadhopur district, after performing 'darshan' at Kamleshawar Mahadev temple in Indergarh, 87 kilometres from here, drowned in Chakan river due to a sudden increase in water current, yesterday.

The couple was saved by the locals, police said, adding, the boy, however could not be saved.

The body of the boy was fished out this morning and would be handed over to the family for the last rites after postmortem.
