8 Gujarat IAS elevated as secretaries

The penultimate day of the financial year brought good news for eight IAS officers in the form of their promotions, while two other IAS officers were transferred. Twenty deputy secretary grade officials were also promoted as joint secretaries.

An official release said that AK Rakesh, secretary of Nirmal Gujarat Urban Development department, was transferred as the development commissioner. Rakesh replaces RK Pathak, who has been appointed as secretary (appeal) in revenue department.

Eight other IAS officers were elevated as secretaries.

RR Chauhan, additional secretary of food & civil supplies department, has been transferred as of director general of Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute.

Kamal Dayani, IAS officer of 1990 batch, has been appointed industries commissioner on his return from central deputation. He replaces BB Swain, who was holding additional charge of the post for the past nine months.

Mona Khandhar, additional secretary of urban development department, has been appointed secretary of Nirmal Gujarat Urban Development department.

T Natarajan, additional secretary in revenue department, has been promoted as technical education commissioner.

Four 1996 Batch IAS officers - AUDA CEO Mamta Verma, iNDEXTb managing director Mukesh Kumar, MGVCL managing director AN Khatri, and registrar of co-operative societies Dilip Raval - have not been transferred, but their posts have been upgraded to secretary level. Twenty deputy secretaries were also elevated to joint secretary rank on Friday.
