71 new CBI courts in the new financial year: Ashwani Kumar

In a bid to make investigation by the agency time-bound , it has been decided that probe into cases will be completed within a year of their registration.

The CBI will set up 71 new courts across the country in the new financial year to speed up disposal of cases being handled by the investigating agency, its director Ashwani Kumar said today.
      
In a bid to make investigation by the agency time-bound , it has been decided that probe into cases will be completed within a year of their registration and chargesheets filed in the next two years, the CBI director said.
      
Kumar, an IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, who hails from Nahan (headquarter of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh) was here on a personal visit.
     
On Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, the CBI director said the agency got the case involving former Haryana DGP S Rathore in 1999 and the chargesheet was filed within one year.
     
Kumar said the agency's hand was full with complicated cases and made a plea that cases under section 306 (abetment to suicide) should not be recommended to it as an officer of inspector rank is competent to probe such cases.
