The move aims at increasing visitors’ facilities and generating additional income for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to install seven giant LED (Light-emitting Diode) screens at Kankaria Lake front to provide visitors with uninterrupted live action of the upcoming Kankaria Carnival. The civic body also seeks to add a pie to its coffer through flashing advertisements on the display screens.
In an attempt to build more facilities for visitors at the popular 15th century lake site, AMC plans to permanently instate seven giant LED screens at seven different locations on the lake front. One screen will be set up in Nagina Wadi, the man made island in the lake premises.
According to AMC sources, these screens will beam action of the annual Kankaria Carnival live enabling visitors to enjoy watch it from comfortable sittings.
The arrangement will enable visitors to avoid unmanageable crowds and thereby making their carnival experience all the more pleasant. The carnival will be held between December 25 and 31 this year.
The civic body has invited expression of interest for conceptualisation, installation, implementation and maintenance of large format day-night visible display screens for content delivery and advertisement.
The screens will also serve as an additional source of income for the civic body as they will be used for showing commercials. However AMC is wary of giving any estimate of the possible income from this new source. "It is too premature to estimate income from advertisements," said MS Patel, deputy municipal commissioner of AMC.
Up till now, the civic body used to hire and mount such screens during Kankaria Carnival and also on other occasions like Gauri Vrat.
So this time round, watch the whole host of activities of the carnival while relaxing on the lake front and sharing a plate of snacks with your family, all away from high rush of revellers.
