54 die of swine flu in India last week

A total of 54 people have succumbed to swine flu across the country in the week ending October 3 with the maximum number of deaths being reported from Maharashtra.

While Maharashtra reported 17 deaths, Gujarat had 11 and Madhya Pradesh 6.

All 337 cases reported during the week are indigenous cases.

The national capital where the Commonwealth Games are on reported three deaths in the week from September 27 to October 3.


Till date, samples from 1,90,990 people have been tested for Influenza A H1N1 in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 44,687 (23.3%) of them have been found positive.
