Domestic problems may have prevented him from completing his B-Tech way back in 1982 but 51-year-old English teacher Alan Ali Khan has finally managed to get his degree after 27 years.
Khan who got admission on merit in BITS Pilani in 1977, had to discontinue his studies after seven semesters and joined as an English teacher in Rajasthan Government Service.
But completing the engineering degree was always in the mind of this Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education topper.
In 2007, Khan made a request to the University (BITS) to re-admit him as a student.
Khan completed his degree in Electronics engineering by attending four semesters with the present students, an official release of the university said.
"Based on the courses cleared by him previously, as compared with the present day curriculum, the University worked out the balance of curriculum which he required to study in four more semesters as a full-time on-campus student, and he finally completed the degree this year," it said.
Khan who hails from Ranasar village of Churu district in Rajasthan was ecstatic while participating in the graduation ceremony last week along with 2005-09 batch students.
"I am being carried away by extreme joy and emotions to be here along with the present batch of students with whom I was destined to complete my degree after a long time," he said during the event.
