An earthquake measuring 5.9 on richter scale today hit the northern part of India.
Mild tremors were felt in many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh this evening.
Tremors were also felt in Srinagar and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The tremors, lasting a few seconds, were experienced at around 1730 hrs, officials said.
The epicentre of the quake was somewhere in Hindukush mountains, they said.
