425 Madhya Pradesh villages will get solar power by end of this fiscal

Madhya Pradesh non conventional energy minister Ajay Vishnoi today said solar power will energise around 425 villages in the state by the end of this financial year.

"Solar energy will reach around 425 villages by the end of this financial year," Vishnoi told reporters here. 

He said that out of around 671 villages, solar energy has already lit up 245 villages in the state.

"We have taken up the work of solar energy in these villages after Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) expressed its helplessness to provide power to these places due to different reasons," Vishnoi said.

The minister said the expenditure to install solar energy system in a village comes to around Rs 20 lakh. 

He said that his department has plans to generate 200 mw of power through solar energy by 2013. 

Vishnoi said that a solar park was coming up in village Ganeshpura in Rajgarh district with an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. It will be developed in an area of 300 acres. 

He said  the park will have complete infrastructure and will attract huge investments. 

Solar energy generation from the park will commence in a year, the Minister said. 

"We are having an installed capacity to generate 170 mw wind energy and we are going to enhance it in the coming years," he added.
