Four suspected militants of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), a Manipur-based outfit, have been arrested from Chandrapur here, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, Tripura police launched a search operation at a motor stand at Chandrapur yesterday, and arrested the four Manipuri youths suspected to be members of PLA, DIG police control, Nepal Das told PTI.

During preliminary interrogation, they said they had gone to Srimangal in Bangladesh to attend a religious function two months ago, and were returning to their state, Das said.

Tripura police was in contact with its Manipur counterpart for gathering information about them.

In July last year, Tripura police had arrested seven militants of the Manipur based People's United Liberation Front (PULF), including its chief Mohammad Abdur Rahman and his wife from here on way to Manipur from Bangladesh.
