The last minute preparations for the Vadodara marathon 2009 have already begun and till now about 30,000 people have already been registered.
The organisers however expect more last minute registrations. The entire event will be conducted under tight security measures as special police force has been deployed across the route.
The mega-event will be flagged off by chief minister Narendra Modi on Sunday morning.
The participants will start running for the noble cause once the event is flagged off at 7.20am. Police force and traffic brigade officials will guard the 21-km route. Talking to DNA, commissioner of police, Rakesh Asthana said, "The entire marathon route has been divided into nine sectors. While the marathon will be guarded by a DCP, one ACP, 12 PIs, 800 police constables and 200 traffic brigade officials. No traffic zone has been declared on the entire route, while only emergency and special vehicles will be will allowed on the route.
Apart from brand ambassadors, Irfan Pathan and Yousuf Pathan, veteran cricketer Kapil Dev and many other Bollywood celebrities and from the field of sports are expected to participate in the marathon.
The marathon will start from Navlakhi ground and will pass through Jail road, Kalaghoda, Maharana Pratap circle, Vad circle, Nizampura road , Channi circle, Navayard , Pandya hotel , Wadi wadi , Race course circle , OP road, Akshar chowk,Vishwamitri road and will end at Navlakhi ground.
