Three top militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed by security forces in two operations across Jammu and Kashmir.

Three  top militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed by security forces in two operations across Jammu and Kashmir. A 65-year-old woman also died in the crossfire. Two of the ultras were potential fidayeen (part of suicide squad) and were planning a big strike in the valley.

After getting a tip-off about the ultras, the police and the CRPF cordoned Amlar Tral early in the morning. Soon after, the ultras opened fire injuring two CRPF personnel, said Bashir Ahmad Khan, the SP of Awantipora. The fire was returned and in the encounter two terrorists — Zahid alias Abu Shahid and Abu Dujana were killed,” he said.

 In the second encounter, a column of Rashtriya Rifles killed one terrorist in Kalsi morah. “Two AK assault rifles, one magazine and one Chinese grenade were found on the terrorist,” said SN Acharya, spokesman for the ministry of defence in Jammu.
