3 thefts in a day, is Ahmedabad West safe?

On an average around three theft cases are being reported in the city every day, putting a question mark on the level of safety and security.

The rigorous police patrolling has not deterred thieves from striking it rich in the city. On an average around three theft cases are being reported in the city every day, putting a question mark on the level of safety and security.

On Monday three more cases of theft amounting to a total of Rs4.9 lakh  were reported from the western part of Ahmedabad.

Five computers and a laptop costing more than Rs1 lakh were stolen from a computer hardware store, Chemitron Associates near Anandnagar road.  Ashok Gupta, a resident of Dhananjay Tower, Satellite filed a compliant with the Satellite police station in this connection.

Gupta said someone broke open the lock of his shop and made away with the computers and laptop.  In another case, a complaint of theft was filed with the Vastrapur police station by one Jigar Mehta and Govind Barot.

Their offices located on SG Highway were broken into despite an intricate security system in place.  Mehta, who owns Mahendra Store had Rs8000 in cash and mobile worth Rs11,000 stolen from his shop while Barot of Gunjan Paints had more than Rs3 lakh worth cash and 2 mobiles stolen.
