3 held for sending Tibetans to Europe, Thailand illegally

The Delhi police today claimed to have smashed a gang of Tibetans allegedly involved in sending fellow Tibetans to Europe and Thailand illegally with the arrest of three persons.

Chinzon Lodoe, 48, Tenzing Dukada, 46, and Pempa Tsering, 36, all residents of Mysore, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in human trafficking and Rs16.50 lakh, four passports and a car used by them were recovered.

The arrests came last night from a restaurant in Lodhi Colony following complaints filed by three Tibetans that they were cheated by a human trafficking gang, deputy commissioner of police (south) HGS Dhaliwal said.

"They had been operating a a well organised racket of human trafficking of their fellow Tibetans by luring them for sending to Europe and other parts of world. To find out aspiring persons who remain eager to settle abroad, the gang used to roam in Tibetan settlements in India," he said.

The gang members allegedly used to promise their victims that they can arrange a visa for France for Rs5 lakh.

"Once the accused persons received the money, they arranged for a Thai visa on the passports of victims. Thereafter, they would hand over the passport to the victim. They would also provide a mobile number of a person in Thailand who would arrange a visa of France for them.

"On their arrival in Thailand, the victims would find that mobile number provided by the accused persons never existed," Dhaliwal said.
