The stain of the second generation mobile telephony spectrum allotment scandal appears to be spreading to the principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well. A source revealed on Saturday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the alleged links of BJP national treasurer Piyush Goel with DB Realty promoters Shahid Balwa and Vinod Goenka. His residence and offices may be raided in the next few days.

When Dainik Bhaskar, a sister publication of DNA, spoke to Goel, a chartered accountant by profession, he agreed that he had acted as a consultant for DB Realty’s IPO last year.

Meanwhile, the source revealed that the CBI has in its possession several documents regarding the alleged links between the Balwa-Goenka duo and Goel, including receipts for some monetary transactions.

One such receipt is for Rs15 crore, issued by Goel to Goenka, who was then MD of Swan Telecom, one of the primary suspects in the spectrum allotment scandal. But Goel claimed that he had not received the amount.
