23 firms offer internships to IIMA’s PGP-ABM students

New recruiters include Netafim, Tata Amalgamated Plantations.

The summer placement process for students of Post Graduate Programme in Agri Business Management (PGP-ABM) at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) concluded on Tuesday. Twenty-three companies participated in the selection process to offer internship to first year students of the programme. The selection process had begun on Monday.

Prof Saral Mukherjee, placement chairperson, IIMA, said: “This year, the PGP-ABM programme attracted a significantly higher number of recruiters compared to last year. This shows a robust sectoral growth and a sustained interest of recruiters in the programme.”

Students were offered vivid roles. While one student got an offer from the office of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in a role related to rural development, others got roles in mergers and acquisitions, corporate banking, and supply chain consulting.

The functional roles ranged from strategy, marketing, commodity trading, sales and distribution to supply chain management, procurement, and research and advisory. Students were offered a variety of roles across sectors such as FMCG, agricultural inputs, banking, consulting, renewable energy, food & agribusiness, advisory and plantations.

Regular recruiters Rabobank, Monsanto, Marico, Bayer CropScience, Syngenta, Heinz, Britannia, Godrej Agrovet, and Tata Rallis visited the campus, said an official communiqué.
It further states that the placements this year attracted new recruiters like Netafim, Tata Amalgamated Plantations, Enercon India and Huvepharma SEA, showcasing the programme’s increasing visibility.

Tata Amalgamated Plantations said, “We arrived at the campus with challenging projects and were delighted to find the right candidates who exceeded our expectations both in terms of talent and preparation levels. The placement process was very efficient and we had a great time recruiting.”

Karan Kabra, recruitment secretary, PGP-ABM placement committee, said that their aim was to attain the best possible student-recruiter fit which they managed to do so with the wide roles offered to students from diverse economic backgrounds.
