While questioning the complainant and his driver in the arrest of Income Tax Commissioner (Appeals) RP Meena for taking Rs2 lakh bribe, the CBI found that they (complainant) were approached by Ashwini Kumar Sharma and Rajesh Ranjan, who posing as CBI officers took Rs50 lakh from Meena.

Sources revealed that the fake CBI officers told the complainant that the CBI has got a lot of incriminating evidence against them.

The duo had duped scores of businessmen and builders of Mumbai and Gujarat. The duo also dupre producer-director Rakesh Roshan of Rs50 lakh.

The CBI will put the duo under the lie detector test as they suspect the involvement of real ÇBI officials who could be part of their syndicate.
