Adani Energy Limited, which supplies piped natural gas (PNG) to consumers in Ahmedabad, will have 15,000 new customers by the end of March 2010. The company said work is going on to extend its PNG network to new customers in Bopal, Ghodasar, Vejalpur-Makarba, Shahpur and Shahibaug.
The company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd, currently supplies PNG to around 60,000 houses in the city through its 110-km steel pipe network. By the end of the current fiscal (March 2010), the total number of houses in the city having a PNG connection is expected to reach 75,000.
“Work is aggressively going on to connect new houses to the PNG network in the city. So far, the feedback from customers using PNG has been encouraging,” said a source in Adani Energy Limited.
The company currently supplies PNG to houses in Maninagar, Memnagar, Isanpur, Paldi, Vasna, Kankaria, Naranpura, Navrangpura, Thaltej, Ambawadi, Bodakdev, Ellisbridge, Ghatlodia, Nava Vadaj, Ranip, Satellite, Thaltej, Navrangpura, Naranpura, Kankaria, Isanpur, Vasna, Vastrapur and Jivrajpark.
The company’s PNG network has continued to grow despite the economic slump. “We have seen the demand for new connections grow to more than double that of last year,” a senior official of Adani Energy Limited said.
