Under the Chief Minister's Fellowship Programme, 14 fellows have been assigned various jobs in government departments. The fellows will be mentored by IAS officers and will submit their monthly reports to their department heads and the Chief Minister's Office.
Confirming this development, highly-placed sources in the state secretariat said, “Fourteen fellows have joined various departments in the state secretariat. They have been assigned works in education, general administration, information and broadcasting, science & technology, tourism, climate change, agriculture, tribal, urban development and panchayat departments. Some of the departments have got more than one fellow.”
Fellows, who have joined the state government are Rahul Bhadoriya, Renu Kumari in education, Darshana Padia in general administration, Atman Desai in information and broadcasting, Pranup Shivaram, Krunal Patel and Kartik Shashtri in science and technology department, Jwalant Patel in Panchayat, Ajay Bhave in climate change, Himanshu Patel in tourism, Akash Domadiya in agriculture, Samir Prajapati and Ashay Desai in tribal and Swetal Shah in urban development department.
The fellows will be given a laptop and Rs35,000 fixed salary without any other government benefits. They are hired on contract of 11 months, which can be extended after the revision of their work.
The fellows will study the various projects and processes in their departments and give suggestions for the better functioning. They will submit a monthly report to their mentors, principal secretary to the chief minister and principal secretary (planning) in the general administration department. If needed, they will also be allowed to travel in the state or outside for study purposes. These fellows have been given the rank of class-1 officers.
All the fellows have been given four-day training at Sardar Patel Institute for Public Administration (SPIPA) before their assignment in state departments.
