Twelve men were taken ill after they drank spurious toddy near Kadampuzha in the district, police said today.
The men, in the age group of 25-50, fell unconscious after drinking the brew late last night at a toddy shop and had been hospitalised, police said adding their condition was stated to be "stable".
The victims, who included those from nearby areas and a few from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, were initially rushed to the government hospital in Tirur.
They were later shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital where their condition was stated to be "stable", police said.
Infuriated locals set on fire the toddy shop last night, they said.
