Kshitij Jindgar is a 10-year boy from Chennai who weighs 128 kg. If he does not get immediate treatment, then he may end up gaining 250 kg by next year. The good news is that the child has reduced 13.5kg weight in just one month after obesity surgery was done on him in Ahmedabad.

Explaining Kshitij's problem, his father Dinesh Jindgar said that when he was two years old, his son suffered from a cough and after taking treatment for it, his weight started increasing dramatically. "His weight began to double every year. Seeing this abnormal growth we decided to get him operated for obesity." Dr Mahendra Narwaria, the obesity surgeon who performed the laproscopic sleeve gastronomy (obesity surgery) said "Kshitij was weighing 127.5kg, and was 153 cm tall. This surgery is the first of its kind performed in Asia," he claimed.

"National guidelines for obesity surgery for children are same as those for adults," added Narwaria.
