Ten faces from the Gujarat BJP have made it to the national team of the party.Purushottam Rupala, the former state BJP president has been appointed as the vice-president of the national BJP.Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, former agriculture minister and Balkrishna Shukla, MP of Vadodara, have been appointed as members of the national executive.
Chief minister Narendra Modi, state BJP president RC Faldu, organisational general secretary in state BJP Bhikhu Dalsaniya and former chief minister Keshubhai Patel have been appointed as members of the national executive by virtue of their post.
Amit Shah, law minister and Anandi Patel, revenue minister, are special invitees in the national executive committee. Amit Thaker, Gujarat-based BJP leader and former president of the BJP national youth cell has also been selected as the committee member in the national executive.
According to party sources, Thaker has not been given a deserving post in the party organisation. Rupala, meanwhile, is delighted at securing space in the national organisation.
Under the leadership of Rupala, BJP has fought assembly elections and parliamentary elections in Gujarat. "I will keep alive the tradition of the party and work according to party ruling," said Rupala after he was assigned new responsibility in the national team.
Meanwhile, Smruti Irani, who has been chosen for her second term as national secretary is excited about the new term with the new leadership. "I have very long association with Gujarat. My rise in the BJP from a Yuva Morcha member to the national ranks shows that even the simplest of karyakarta can become a national leader in the BJP," she said.
